| Multimedia extension #8: Rank error prediction
and actual |
| |
| Results of rank error prediction and actual rank
errors. The rank error prediction is based the susceptibility of the rank
transform to noise and is given by (22) and (23). The susceptibility is
tested by means of a Monte-Carlo type simulation in which an images is corrupted
by additive noise and the statistics on the per-pixel variance difference
between resulting disparity and the known no-noise disparity are gathered.

| Lighter regions indicate pixels which are more
susceptible to noise. |
